Executive Director

Hours: 20 hours per week – some evenings and Saturdays
Location: Montreal
Job Description: The Interim Executive Director will be offered a
three-month contract with possibility of fulltime employment.
The Interim Executive Director reports to the President and is
accountable to the Board of Directors of the QFHSA, and is responsible
for the overall management of the Association with consideration
given to member needs and the long-term sustainability of the
organization. He or she provides leadership to and works closely with
the Board to advance the Association’s vision and mandate. The
Interim Executive Director will ensure the QFHSA and its members
continue to have a voice in the shaping of public education policy in
Quebec by maintaining solid working relationships with the Ministry
of Education, Leisure and Sport (at the political and staff levels) as
well as with other ministries and organizations.
As the ideal candidate, you are an experienced leader with a strong
track record of success in motivating and collaborating with others to
achieve goals and objectives. You are recognized for your leadership
and interpersonal ability, fostering teamwork and results. You have
excellent communication skills and work well with people from all
walks of life. A proven ability to facilitate Board activities and experience
with the operational aspects of association management and
member services is a definite asset. You have ideally had significant
exposure to a political environment and have a respect for and understanding
of the political process. Additionally, your values include
support for public education and the availability of opportunities for
all students.
Skills and Experience:
• Implement strategies and provide support to the Board of Directors
to ensure that they are provided with the resources to make effective
decisions.
• Excellent organizational skills (oral and written) and the ability to
excel at details, multi-tasking and working under pressure.
• Knowledge of the English Minority Language Education system in
Quebec and awareness of ensuing political implications.
• Good familiarity with the Home & School community. Experience
at the local Home and School Committee level and/or with the
Provincial Board of Directors or one of its committees will be considered
a significant asset.
Assets:
• Experience in completing program and project funding applications
and reporting on results for government funding.
• Recommend and initiate new strategies to build the sustainability of
the association and its members including enhancement of the
Association’s program and project funding resources.
