Mandate

The mandate of the QFHSA Education Committee is incredibly broad: we are supposed to follow everything that is going on in education. Since this is not really feasible, we have adopted the following strategy:

1. We adopt priorities for the year, which include at least one "deliverable" (in other words, something tangible).
2. We review articles on education in La Presse, Le Devoir and The Gazette.
3. We have liaisons attend various committee meetings at the MEQ and elsewhere.
4. We invite speakers to give presentations on various topics in education.
5. We are consulted by the QFHSA Board of Directors on education issues.
6. We prepare resolutions for the AGM.

QFHSA Education Committee liaisons attend the meetings of the following Ministry of Education and other committees:

• The Elementary Language Arts Consultative Committee (ELACC) - Not currently active
• The Secondary Language Arts Advisory Committee (SLAAC)- Not currently active
• The Curriculum Coalition - Not currently active
• QFHSA Literacy and Rights committees
